Another position group losing some key pieces from 2020 is Tennessee football’s offensive line unit. New offensive line coach Glen Elarbee, who has coached alongside Josh Heupel for the last five seasons, is a step towards stabilizing UT’s front five.

More from All for Tennessee

Elarbee, who played at Middle Tennessee State from 1998-2002, has ties to the tri-star state and enters Rocky Top with SEC coaching experience. Prior to coaching under Heupel with UCF from 2017-2020, Elarbee also coached offensive line groups at the Univesrity of Missouri, Arkansas State, the University of Houston, and Middle Tennessee State.

Heupel’s compelling offenses with the UCF Knights are a reason he was hired at UT, but those groups wouldn’t have generated momentum without Elarbee’s offensive line. If Heupel has had success running his offense behind Elarbee’s coaching in the trenches, why change a thing?

The former Missouri Tigers offensive line coach has SEC coaching experience with ties all over the southern states, making him a formidable coaching candidate for year No. 1 of the Heupel era on Rocky Top. A graduate of Middle Tennessee who was born and spent time coaching in Georgia, he also has ties to two key recruiting areas for the Vols.

Rocky Top’s coaching carousel hasn’t concluded yet, as there are still some positions to fill on the defensive side of the ball. For a program focused on offensive production for the coming years, though, these are the names that Tennessee football fans should grow familiar with right now.
