Tennessee basketball preview at Vanderbilt: Live stream, game time, TV and radio info
Coming off an embarrassing loss at home to the Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee basketball is back on the road looking to return to the win column. In the process, the Vols will try to score what should be an easy win but is in a place that has always been tough for them.
UT travels to Memorial Gym in Nashville, Tenn. to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. This is the initial schedule date of the game, but it was moved up to January to serve as a make-up game in place of two other games being canceled from COVID outbreaks. However, a COVID outbreak affecting Vandy moved the date back to this week.
Heading into this game, the ‘Dores are on a two-game losing streak after falling to the Kentucky Wildcats and Alabama Crimson Tide last week. Rick Barnes’ team is ranked No. 25 in the AP Poll, but they are now unranked in the Coaches Poll. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee basketball’s matchup.

Despite struggling, Jerry Stackhouse’s team has proven to be more formidable recently. They lost both games last week to only four points, and they were both to teams that beat UT. In fact, Kentucky blew out UT on Rocky Top just a few days after squeaking by Vanderbilt. Also, Alabama struggled with Vanderbilt at home more than they did with the Vols in Knoxville.
Simply put, Vandy can be dangerous. Add in the fact that the Vols have a history of struggling in Nashville, needing overtime to beat them two years ago after reaching a No. 1 ranking, and they can’t take this game lightly. Of course, we said the same thing about Kentucky on Saturday, and it didn’t matter. The Vols still dropped the ball.
In their last meeting, to be fair, Rocky Top won 81-61. However, their next game was a blowout loss to the Florida Gators, so we have no idea what to make of this program on a day to day basis. This is one they can’t lose, though.
After this game, Tennessee basketball will close out the regular season with a visit to the Auburn Tigers on Saturday. Vanderbilt will host the Ole Miss Rebels that same day before visiting the LSU Tigers on Tuesday, March 2 to close out their regular season.
