Tennessee football makes cut for 2022 Louisiana DB Jordan Allen
Still in pursuit of his first commitment for 2022, Josh Heupel has been targeting multiple Louisiana prospects in that class the past few weeks. On Tuesday, Tennessee football made the cut for one of those players.
The Vols made the top six for defensive back Jordan Allen, a three-star across the board from Lafayette, La. out of Lafayette Christian Academy. Standing at 6’0″ and somewhere around 180 pounds, Allen is listed as a cornerback on all services as well.
Joining Tennessee football in Allen’s list were the Ole Miss Rebels, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, Louisville Cardinals and Penn State Nittany Lions. He announced the schools on Twitter Friday evening.

Obviously, with Alontae Taylor and Kenneth George Jr. likely to be gone after 2021, cornerback is a key area for Rocky Top going forward. Adding a guy like Allen could go a long way towards helping with that issue. Given the fact that Tim Banks recruited him at Penn State, the Vols could have a connection as well.
According to Ryan Callahan of GoVols247, Allen said last month he was told he’d be able to move around from slot cornerback and outside cornerback to safety. His potential to play nickel and safety makes him a huge asset as well, as the Vols need competition everywhere in the secondary going forward.
There is some major good news for UT given Allen’s list. The LSU Tigers were the unanimous favorite to land him on the Rivals Future Cast, so with them off the list, a major hurdle is out of the Vols’ way. They don’t have to compete with the in-state powerhouse.
However, Tennessee football does still have some competition. While there are no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, Miami and LSU were tied for the lead in the unscientific Rivals Fan Future Cast. The Vols are as much in play as anybody, but they also have no advantages over anybody, so they have to continue pursuing him.
