Tennessee football makes cut for elite 2022 Georgia OL Dayne Shor
On the same day Tennessee football received its first commitment for 2022, the Vols made the cut for another elite prospect from that class. Similar to commitment Elijah Herring, who plays linebacker, the player who included them as a finalist is also at a crucial position.
Offensive lineman Dayne Shor now has the Vols in his top 10. Coming out of King’s Ridge Christian High School in Alpharetta, Ga., Shor is a four-star on Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports Composite but a three-star on 247Sports. He stands at 6’6″ and 295 pounds.
Joining Tennessee football in Shor’s top 10 include the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners, Louisville Cardinals, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks and Josh Heupel’s old team the UCF Knights. He announced his list Wednesday on Twitter.

Landing a player of Shor’s caliber would be a huge get for Heupel and co., but given the other schools looking, the Vols will have a major battle on their hands to stay in contention. It could definitely happen, though.
UT obviously has a major connection to Alpharetta given the fact that Josh Dobbs came from there. Shor would have been in middle school when Dobbs played his final season on Rocky Top, but it’s still possible his rise had an impact.
According to Ryan Callahan of GoVols247, Jeremy Pruitt and his staff offered Shor back in 2020. Heupel and Glen Elarbee continued the offer when they took over, and they seem to be drawing some real interest from the kid.
With Wanya Morris and Jahmir Johnson transferring and the departures of Brandon Kennedy and Trey Smith, the Vols obviously already need help at offensive line. However, Cade Mays, Riley Locklear, K’Rojhn Calbert and Jerome Carvin could all be gone after next season as well. Taking all that into account, this is a position Heupel needs to recruit heavily.
A bit of good news for everybody on Shor’s list is that the Auburn Tigers were initially the favorite. They received the only 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction and were the plurality favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast. There were no Rivals Future Cast predictions. They didn’t make the list, though. That opens things up for everybody, including Tennessee football.
