Tennessee football makes cut for 2022 Alabama WR Marquarius White
Jeremy Pruitt and his staff may be gone, but that doesn’t mean Tennessee football can’t still establish a pipeline into Alabama. As the Vols finally begin to roll in commitments, a hidden story of the past two days was them making the cut for a 2022 prospect from that state.
Wide receiver Marquarius White, a three-star on Rivals and 247Sports, has put UT in his top 10. A product of Clay High School in Pinson, Ala., White stands somewhere between 5’10” and 5’11” and weighs in the range of 155 to 165 pounds.
Joining Tennessee football in White’s top 10 are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, UCF Knights, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, West Virginia Mountaineers, Virginia Tech Hokies and Michigan Wolverines. He announced the schools Thursday on Twitter.

Although he is a small prospect, White does bring elite speed to the table. According to Ryan Callahan of GoVols247, he clocked in a 10.96 100-meter dash, and he claims to have clocked a 4.37 40-yard dash.
If that 40-time is true, then Rocky Top could be in the running for the perfect type of player in Josh Heupel’s system. Of course, he will still have to put on some strength, but a speedy receiver like him could do serious damage in an up-tempo offense.
Intriguingly, the Auburn Tigers were left off his list despite being the other elite school in Alabama. With UCF, Heupel’s former school, on there, though, you have to think there may be a connection with Gus Malzahn that UT has to fight off if they are going to land him.
Currently, there are no favorites to land White on the Rivals Future Cast or the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Alabama is the favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast, but that’s an unscientific poll. Simply put, at this point, Tennessee football has as great a chance as anybody to land him, and he could definitely be an asset.
