Tennessee football makes cut for elite 2022 Indiana DL Caden Curry
Things continue to pick up for Tennessee football on the recruiting trail, and that includes adding elite transfers to join the program in 2021. The Vols are also trending for more and more elite 2022 prospects all over the field from all over the country.
UT is in the top 12 for elite 2022 defensive lineman Caden Curry. A four-star across all services out of Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind., Curry is listed as a strongside defensive end on Rivals but a defensive tackle on 247Sports and ESPN. He stands between 6’4″ and 6’5″ and weighs in the 245 to 250-pound range.
Joining Tennessee football on Curry’s list were the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, Indiana Hoosiers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, USC Trojans, Arizona State Sun Devils and Oregon Ducks. He announced the schools Monday on Twitter.

Given his frame, Curry definitely seems more like a defensive end who would play up on the line than a pure defensive tackle. However, the Vols are losing a lot of talent across the board on the defensive line after this year, so Curry would help either way.
Obviously, getting Curry to head to Rocky Top from Big Ten Country will be a major battle, but the fact that the Vols are in play at all is a pretty impressive sign. Other programs in play outside of the region have generally seen much greater success this century.
Of course, there is always the Peyton Manning connection for the Vols recruiting elite Indiana prospects, but that probably doesn’t have much of an effect, especially now given the fact that Manning hasn’t played a game for the Indianapolis Colts in over 10 years. Still, it’s an interesting part of the process to bring up.
Currently, there are no favorites to land Curry on the Rivals Future Cast or the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Ohio State is the favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast, but it’s only a plurality. Simply put, Tennessee football may have as much of a chance as anybody to lands Curry. They should keep going after him as a result.
