1.) Minnesota Vikings
Okay, on paper, the Minnesota Vikings may not be the best place for the former Tennessee football lineman. They did, after all, finish fourth in the league with 4.9 yards per carry, suggesting their interior line is fine.

However, a deeper look shows that the Vikings desperately need help at offensive guard specifically. Pro Football Focus noted that Minnesota’s guards individually were among the worst pass-blocking guards in the league, and collectively, they made for probably the worst pass-blocking duo. As a result, Mike Zimmer needs help there now.
Even if Smith is more of a run-blocker, he is still a solid pass blocker and would be a dramatic upgrade on that front. Also, he’s as elite a run-blocker as anybody, so an efficient rushing attack like Minnesota’s would be a great situation for him to showcase his skills while the Vikings can double down on a strength in a big way.
There’s a chance Minnesota takes multiple guards in the early rounds, as they probably need two and the chance to find just one who can start. Smith, as a result, could provide a significant value no matter what. If he lands in Minnesota, he’s destined to succeed right away, and he’s going to a franchise that will invest heavily in him.
Smith is bound to be a success wherever he lands. Tennessee football fans know how special he is. However, these spots truly maximize his chances at success, and Minnesota is the best place of all of those.
