Tennessee football Orange and White game report card
Special teams grades
Place-kicking: A+
There were no missed extra points, and Chase McGrath made the only field goal attempt of the game, a 28-yarder in the first quarter. Tennessee football has a couple of kickers, and McGrath is likely the favorite to start. There wasn’t enough for us to gauge out of this play, but with no kickoffs, they did play perfectly.

Punting: A-
Paxton Brooks is the favorite to start for the Vols as a punter, as he has done the past two years, and he had the bulk of the punts, booting three for an average of 44.7 yards a punt. However, he had a rough day, pinning none of then 20 and having one go for a touchback, even if he did have a 52-yarder at one point.
Marshall Ware, with one punt, may have brought in some competition. He had a 59-yard punt that pinned the other team inside the 20. There was no return game on Saturday, but in terms of punts, Ware had the better one. That gave this grade an A overall.
Overall special teams grade: A
With no kickoff or punt returns and no long field goals tried, this unit’s impact was limited on Saturday. However, it didn’t show any issues for the most part, even if it didn’t sway the game, so we will give it an A for now.
