Tennessee football: 10 toughest Vols to replace from 2020 for 2021 season
New team: Alabama Crimson Tide
Quavaris Crouch could have been on this list, but he hadn’t proven enough yet. Henry To’o To’o was the main star for Tennessee football the past two years, and as the anchor calling the plays for the defense last year, he’s a huge loss.

Of course, To’o To’o joining the Alabama Crimson Tide while Crouch went to the Michigan State Spartans makes To’o To’o’s loss even more painful, but he would have been a huge loss no matter what. At 6’2″ 225 pounds, To’o To’o has led the team in tackles each of the past two years. He has a total of 140, 74 of which were solo and 12.5 of which were tackles for a loss.
Add in a sack, a pick-six, four pass deflections and a fumble recovery, and To’o To’o does it all. He was supposed to be at the heart of the Vols’ rebuild under Jeremy Pruitt along with Wanya Morris and Eric Gray, and that’s what makes his departure so devastating. His part on the rebuild would be to hold the defense together, and having started as a freshman, he proved he could do it.
Crouch transferring along with J.J. Peterson and Martavius French does make To’o To’o’s departure even more devastating. Adding Juwan Mitchell, Aaron Willis and William Mohan doesn’t change that. Tim Banks has to find somebody among them and the returning guys to step up, though.
