Vol fans from Memphis will be able to witness their team take on the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Gator Bowl. WVU will finish sixth in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners, Iowa State Cyclones, Texas Longhorns, TCU Horned Frogs and Oklahoma State Cowboys. With OU going to the College Football Playoff, WVU will move up into that Liberty Bowl spot.
Entering last season, Neal Brown’s program showed tremendous promise and improvement. They’ll be even better this year on the offensive side of the ball. By this point in the season, Josh Heupel’s team will be better offensively as well. Know what that means? Points!
UT and WVU will be locked into one of those epic December bowl game shootouts. It will go back and forth until the end, when Heupel’s offense, which has finally found its true form, pulls off a game-winning drive. Playing in the state of Tennessee and a strong finish to the season will have the Vols excited for this outing, and it will show, as they win their bowl game.
Final record: 7-6 (3-5)
It will come down to winning the final three games, but Tennessee football will close out 2021 with a winning record. The Vols will finish Josh Heupel’s first season on a strong note, and that will give them a ton of momentum going into next year.
