The more embarrassing part was that it wasn’t even close. ETSU won 23-3 and should’ve actually won by more. Vandy is a disaster and no better than last year’s 0-9 team that resulted in Derek Mason’s firing. After losing to an FCS program, they now have to go on the road to face a Group of Five program. One division up and switching venues are two factors that make this game harder.
The Colorado State Rams, meanwhile, are still rebuilding in their second year under head coach Steve Addazio. They actually also had a bad FCS loss last week to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, and like Vandy, their loss wasn’t close.
Prediction
Two teams suffering FCS losses last week would make this intriguing, but the fact of the matter is South Dakota State is much better than ETSU, and CSU was actually closer with them. That’s all we can base this off of.
As a result, CSU is the take here, and they’ll actually win running away. Take the Rams to cover, but the game will hit the under, as Vandy won’t score much. Sure, CSU gave up 42 last week to an FCS school, but as we’ve seen, FCS schools are much better than Vandy, so that doesn’t mean much.
