When you're such a highly-touted playmaker, there's always going to be some concern when you suffer an injury. Such is the case for Tennessee football quarterback commit Faizon Brandon, who is currently dealing with a thumb issue.

It didn't stop him from making the trip to Knoxville for the showdown with Georgia over the weekend. However, it is going to keep him off the field at least for this week. According to reporter Bryant Roche, Brandon indeed has suffered a thumb injury and he won't be in action on Friday night. Luckily, Brandon is 'week to week' per Roche, so this is not expected to be a long-term problem:

The bad news is that Brandon is going to miss at least one game during his senior campaign. However, the good news for him is that this isn't season-ending and that he should be able to get back on the gridiron sooner rather than later.

Brandon might be bummed he'll have to sit out a game, but he should also be feeling lucky. As for his time in Knoxville, it was nearly perfect, but Georgia winning in overtime probably soured things a bit. However, it was still a day to remember, which included him catching up with Peyton Manning at Neyland Stadium.

Imagine making a return trip to campus and part of your day is catching up with a Tennessee legend in Manning? Yeah, that's something Brandon is going to cherish for a while. If anything, we'd all like to know what the Vols QB great told the youngster.

That wasn't the only highlight for the young quarterback, as he was at UT with his high school teammate Andrew Rogers, a 4-star Virginia Tech EDGE commit. He's not going to be VT-bound for long, however, as he's now predicted to flip to Tennessee.

Think Brandon has something to do with that? You bet. Brandon is ranked the No. 1 quarterback in the country by 247Sports and he's already been turning plenty of heads this campaign. He'll be on the sidelines for Friday's tilt, but it shouldn't be long until Tennessee fans see him back in action.
