On Saturday, Knoxville is going to be turned upside down with the Tennessee football team playing its home-opener against East Tennessee State - it's a game the Vols are favored to win by more than 40 points. It should be a blowout.
We don't want to look ahead to Week 3, but hey, Georgia is next up on the schedule and Neyland Stadium will once again be at max capacity for the highly-anticipated SEC showdown. Kickoff has already been set for 3:30 p.m. ET, with ABC on hand for a national broadcast.
Will the College GameDay crew also be on hand? That's up in the air, as it has yet to be revealed as of this writing where the historic show will be headed for Week 3. However, from our chair, we think the decision should be easy for Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard and the others - get your butts to Knoxville.
Bill Belichick is quietly becoming a major pain for Tennessee and Josh Heupel
Tennessee fans are hoping College GameDay will be in Knoxville for the Georgia game
The main game getting in the way of this being a lock? Also on Sept. 13, LSU and Florida will be meeting in another HUGE SEC contest. Flip a coin and make the decision? That's an option, though we're going to stick to our guns and say that UT vs. UGA should be the pick.
Assuming everything goes to plan for both teams, Georgia and Tennessee should both be 2-0 entering Week 3 and in the Top 15-20. Entering this weekend's action, Georgia is the No. 4 team in the land, while the Vols are checking in at No. 22.
It's safe to say that the Dawgs have dominated things against Tennessee in recent years, including Carson Beck and Co. putting on a show against Heupel in Athens in 2024. However, this is a new-look team, with Joey Aguilar now running the offense.
Aguilar had a brilliant debut for Tennessee, tossing for 247 yards and three touchdowns. The hope is that a healthy Jermod McCoy will be able to suit up vs. Georgia too, but if he can't go, Colton Hood and Ty Redmond will look to step up on the outside for the secondary. The Georgia vs. Tennessee battle will be one to remember, and GameDay needs to be there. We'll find out soon enough if that will be the case or not.
