It's only been a few days of the Joe Milton experience at camp with the Dallas Cowboys and already things are looking great for him with the NFC East side. No, the former Tennessee football standout isn't going to be starting this campaign, but that doesn't matter.
What does matter is that Milton is wasting no time in proving that he's going to be a quality backup to Dak Prescott now that he's made the move from New England to Dallas. Milton's confidence is only going to grow knowing that the Pro Bowl signal-caller is already loving what he's seeing out of the youngster getting ready for his 'sophomore' year in the league:
Dak Prescott on Joe Milton: “Joe is a guy that’s gonna push me to be better each and every day. We encourage that in our room. That’s the competition. That’s part of it. I told (Brian Schottenheimer) that from Day 1 when that guy came in and we went to throw routes on air outside…

Dak Prescott has been quite impressed early on with former Tennessee QB Joe Milton
"“He’s not complacent with how well he throws the ball," Prescott said of Milton via Cowboys reporter Jon Machota. "He’s going to push himself to get better, and the knowledge and the situations of the game. I think all that does is push myself, push this offense. I’m super thankful to have a guy like that.”
The fact that Prescott is thankful Milton is in town too is refreshing. Last season, Milton made plenty of headlines when it was reported that people in New England didn't like the fact that he was pushing for the QB1 job over Drake Maye. Seriously?
Milton is a competitor and he's always going to be at his best. If that kind of hungry mentality to take down a first-round pick wasn't well received with the Patriots, then that's their problem. Dallas is clearly welcoming competition and Prescott doesn't mind Milton pushing him either.
As everyone remembers, Milton was a joy to watch in his lone season as the starter for Tennessee in 2023. He made countless impressive plays both with his strong right arm and his fantastic wheels. He's going to keep developing too and wait for his shot to arrive. For now, he'll be QB2 and do whatever is needed to help Prescott moving forward. If his number is ever called, though, Milton will be ready to ball out.
