It's getting hard to keep track of all the records Tennessee Vols running back Dylan Sampson is breaking this season. First, he set the new high mark for most rushing touchdowns in a campaign. Then, he broke the record for the most total scores in a season.

In the thrilling win over Vanderbilt, Sampson decided to make some more history for this team. His day didn't get started the way he wanted it to, as he coughed up a fumble on Tennessee's second offensive play of the day. It was a nightmare start for him.

However, the superstar talent was able to bounce back in the best way possible, rushing for 178 yards on 25 carries. Thanks to his sensational day (forget about the fumble), Sampson broke the record for most rushing yards in a single season. Take a bow, Mr. Sampson, this is fantastic:

Dylan Sampson has set the new Tennessee single-season rushing yards record

Not long ago, the Doak Walker Award finalists list came out and Sampson was not featured. With respect to the committee there, what in the world were they thinking? Sampson has been one of the top RBs in the country and arguably the best player in the SEC.

Does that not mean much anymore? The four fumbles he's lost this season have been concerning, but it doesn't take away from the video game-type numbers he's been able to record this season. Former UT running back Travis Stephens previously had the single-season record with 1,464 yards (2001), but Sampson was able to eclipse that number.

Sampson went down with an injury late in the game, but luckily it doesn't look to be too serious. The Vols are now going to have some time off before taking the field for the College Football Playoff first round. Even better, that game should be at Neyland Stadium. Sampson will rest up and then look to make this campaign even more memorable for him and this team as a whole.
