Josh Heupel has done a nice job setting up Tennessee for a successful NFL Draft, as Tennessee has a plethora of players attending the NFL Combine, and they have a chance to have three players drafted in the first round come April. Jermod McCoy is a likely lock to be picked in the first round, and Coilton Hood and Chris Brazzell II are two players who, with a strong showing at the combine, could find themselves as first-rounders.

When it comes to first-round picks, Tennessee could be making history this year. ESPN's Field Yates, a well-respected analyst, has Tennessee doing something that has never been done in the common era of the NFL Draft.

Yates highlighted a fascinating wrinkle, as no franchise in the Common Era has ever drafted two players from the same school at the same position in the first round of the same draft. Yet in his mock draft, the Los Angeles Rams do exactly that, selecting Tennessee cornerbacks Jermod McCoy at No. 13 and Colton Hood at No. 29. Ironically, the Rams just hired Michael Hunter Jr., who briefly served as the cornerbacks coach in Knoxville after Jim Knowles was hired.

Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood on the same team again would be must see TV

It’s unfortunate McCoy suffered an injury last January, because watching him lock down one side of the field with Colton Hood on the other would have been a sight to see. If they were drafted to the same team in the same round, it would be not only history but a deadly secondary that could make waves in the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys also have two first-round picks and need help on defense. It's not likely, but it could happen where both Vols end up in Dallas as well. Hopefully, the two former Vols can find their way on the same field together.
