While so much of the focus this offseason and the transfer portal went to Nico Iamaleava, remember that there were several other playmakers who decided to leave the Tennessee football team as well. It's easy to forget that wide receiver Squirrel White was also on the list.
The speedster spent three seasons with the Vols, and he quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his great name and his incredible wheels. This offseason, though, he indeed said goodbye to UT and signed with Florida State. With the Seminoles opening up camp this week, the veteran wideout isn't wasting any time in proving he's going to be a playmaker in the ACC:

New Florida State WR Squirrel White is making a splash for Mike Norvell after leaving Tennessee
White has been earning plenty of props from head coach Mike Norvell and new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. We unfortunately can't say we're too surprised by this, as White is pretty dang quick and he's got fantastic hands.
In his three seasons with the Vols, he totaled 131 receptions for 1,665 yards and six touchdowns. His best campaign for Tennessee came in 2023, as he posted 67 catches for 803 yards and two touchdowns - last year he recorded 34 receptions for 381 yards and two scores.
Losing him stung quite a bit, but it also opened the door wide open for Boo Carter to now be a two-way stud for head man Josh Heupel. Carter flirted with the transfer portal, but he stayed in Knoxville and he'll be given a shot to make plays at inside receiver in addition to his spot in the secondary.
There's been some offseason drama with Carter, but he is still with the program, working his way back onto the practice field. As for White, he's focused on having a huge senior year for the Seminoles and Norvell. Vols fans won't be on a 'hate watch' mission with him, but again, not having him make plays for Tennessee's offense feels like it's going to hurt in '25.
