If Tennessee and Josh Heupel could consistently recruit one high school and make it a priority in the state, Brentwood Academy would be right at the top of the list. Every recruiting cycle, the school produces elite prospects who draw interest from major programs across the country. Its track record can rival almost anyone’s, with notable NFL players such as Jalen Ramsey and Derek Barnett, both of whom were first-round draft picks.
Tennessee gains momentum as Georgia drops out of David Gabriel Georges race
The latest blue-chip prospect to come out of Brentwood Academy is four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman, who has been committed to Tennessee since late March. Bowman is ranked as the No. 56 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite and the No. 9 wideout. He holds offers from programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, and pretty much any other school you can think of.
That said, Tennessee received more good news regarding Bowman’s recruitment. He told Rocky Top Now that he is locked in with Tennessee, shutting down his recruitment and focusing on helping bring another championship back to Knoxville with him "Bringin back the 98' Vols."

4-star WR Kesean Bowman is locked in the Heupel, Tennessee
In a recruiting class that may not have the star power of Tennessee’s 2026 class, the Vols have managed to keep their highest-rated player committed, which is significant. Kesean Bowman is a big-time prospect who has already earned Under Armour All-American honors. He has the speed, length, and athleticism to be a difference-maker in Tennessee’s offense, which thrives on explosive plays and chunk plays down the field.
Zooming out, this could give Tennessee one of the best wide receiver rooms in the future. The famous picture of Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Henry Ruggs III at Alabama in 2019 raises the question of could this be Tennessee’s version? The Vols next season will have Mike Matthews, who had 800 yards last year, Braylon Staley, who won SEC Freshman of the Year, and five-star freshman TK Keys. They also added four-star Tyreek King in 2026 and now Kesean Bowman, a top-100 player. The room is loaded with talent, and with Heupel’s ability to scheme and develop, the offense should continue to be one of the top units in the nation since his arrival.
Next fall, Bowman can get his feet wet, assuming Staley and Matthews are still around, and then as a sophomore in 2028, he can be fully unleashed as a starter. With Tennessee’s depth, he won’t be forced to start right away. He can develop, but also contribute. Heupel has proven he’s not afraid to play freshmen if they’re ready.
Big picture, with Bowman fully in the fold, Josh Heupel can focus his efforts on in-state running back David Gabriel Georges. The five-star running back has been Tennessee’s No. 1 recruiting priority in this class, and every additional bit of attention the Vols can spend on strengthening that relationship helps their chances. In-state talent will always be a priority in Knoxville, and Heupel consistently landing the state’s top players continues to pay dividends year after year.
Bowman officially shutting everything down makes Tennessee’s future on offense look even brighter with all the talent they have. If you’re a Vols fan, it’s hard not to be fired up about this.
