Josh Heupel has special request for Tennessee fans to help out against Vanderbilt
It's all on the line for the Tennessee Volunteers going up against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday. The Vols are the No. 7 team in the country following the 56-0 victory over UTEP, which now has them with one foot in the door for the College Football Playoff.
However, everything can change for them in Nashville if Vandy manages to take them down. That's right, a loss in the regular season finale will eliminate Tennessee from the CFP, it's as simple as that. This is something Josh Heupel and his players know.
Josh Heupel is hopeful Tennessee fans will pack the stands for the Vanderbilt game
While this is going to be a road game, there are plenty of fans from across the state ready to take over the city to show their support for Nico Iamaleava, Dylan Sampson and others. Ahead of this season-changing contest, Heupel made one final pitch for UT supporters to get their hands on some tickets and to pack the visiting stadium.
"If you have any thoughts, go get yourself a ticket - however you get the ticket," he said. "Make sure that you're rested and ready to go on Saturday afternoon."
There's nothing quite like playing at Neyland Stadium. It's one of the best home venues in all of college sports, with Tennessee always putting on a show for the home crowd. Now, though, the last challenge of the year presents a tough road contest.
Despite this one being played on enemy territory, Heupel knows that Vols fans travel well and he's calling on them to do so once again with a trip to the CFP on the line. The Vandy faithful will be ready to try and make life rough for Nico and the offense, but the fact of the matter here is that plenty of people will be ready to cheer loud and proud for Tennessee too. This is going to be a fun battle, one that Tennessee desperately needs to come out on top of.
