Tennessee is getting ready for official visit season, but they haven’t slowed down at all. Josh Heupel has been going hard after his top targets, and it’s starting to pay off. Heupel and the Vols have made a few top lists in recent weeks, and that trend is continuing.
The latest CBS bowl game projection exposes the floor Tennessee must avoid
Given that, 5-foot-11, four-star wideout Osani Gayles has trimmed his list down to five schools, and the Vols made the cut. Josh Heupel and Kelsey Pope have made Gayles a top priority, and it's paid off, making the trimmed list along with Alabama, Washington, Notre Dame, and Stanford.

The former St. Mary's wide receiver in California, Osani Gayles, has moved to IMG this fall to take his game to the next level. He is rated as the No. 35 player in the nation by 247Sports and the No. 7 wide receiver in the 2027 class.
Tennessee makes top-5 for WR Osani Gayles
Tennessee already has a top receiver in the 2027 class with Kesean Bowman, but why stop there? The Vols love throwing the ball, and they’ve been great at developing wideouts. They’ve had a ton of guys drafted over the years and keep producing talent under Heupel. Chris Brazzell II was just a day two pick a couple of weeks ago, and with Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley tearing it up right now, there's a lot to like when it comes to Tennessee wide receiver development.
It's hard to ignore that Gayles is one of the top players in the 2027 class. Making a top list like this gets fans fired up, but th staff still has to finish the job. Gayles can line up on the outside and in the slot, but projects as an explosive yard after catch player at the next level who can make big plays. This is a perfect fit in the Heupel offense, a versatile wideout who makes big plays.
At the end of the day, Tennessee and Josh Heupel have built a strong foundation with a lot of blue-chip talent, but now it’s time to finish it.
