While the majority of the top portal targets for Tennessee football are off the board, it looks like there's at least one more big game for Vols fans to keep an eye on - and no, we're not talking about Carson Beck in this case.
Instead, USC guard Emmanuel Pregnon remains unsigned and he's looking for his next home. On Wednesday, he arrived in Knoxville for the start of his two-day official visit. That alone is big news, as Josh Heupel is hoping to make a splash and land him.
It's not going to be easy, though. According to multiple reports, Tennessee and Oregon are the two main contenders for the former Trojans' playmaker. Oregon just beat out UT for wide receiver Malik Benson. Are they going to do the same with Pregnon or can Heupel come out on top?
USC lineman Emmanuel Pregnon reportedly has Tennessee and Oregon as his finalists
According to 247Sports, Pregnon, who previously transferred from Wyoming to USC, is ranked the No. 2 interior offensive lineman transfer and No. 11 player overall. He's also ranked four stars. He's the top IOL available in the portal, which is why Tennessee is making him a priority.
As you can tell, being able to bring in Pregnon would be massive for the Vols, especially after the staff previously signed Arizona lineman Wendell Moe Jr. Both Moe and Pregnon would be able to step in and start right away. Moe is going to be ready to make noise during spring ball for Tennessee. Will the same be the case for Pregnon?
Dan Lanning is surely in his ear trying to work his recruiting magic for the Ducks too. However, the good news is that Heupel and the Vols were able to get Pregnon to Knoxville for his official visit. Depending on how that trip went, it could send things over the top in UT's favor. Pregnon is expected to make his decision soon, with Tennessee fans keeping their fingers crossed they'll get some good news.
