That said, Tennessee has been going to battle with Ohio State to secure his commitment. Ole Miss is still technically in the mix too, but by all accounts, it's Tennessee taking on the Buckeyes. Ohio State had the lead at times, and so did the Vols, but now it's becoming clear who has the advantage, and Vol fans are going to like it.
Per On3's Pete Nakos, he's just logged a prediction for Tennessee to land its top recruit David Gabriel Georges. This would be an earth-shattering win for Josh Heupel to take down Ohio State and bolster the 2027 class with a five-star recruit.

Tennessee predicted to land David Gabriel Georges
Perhaps the biggest part of this situation is the fact that Tennessee has done pretty much everything they can to land Gabriel Georges, and the fruits of their labor look like they will pay off. Heupel had former Vols star running back Alvin Kamara help recruit him to Knoxville, and Gabriel Georges is expected to be the first high school tailback to make over a million dollars, so Tennesse has made sure to make a financially competitive offer. Heupel has consistently been getting Gabriel Georges on campus, and it looks like the puzzle pieces are finally falling into place.
Maybe the biggest selling point for Heupel is that Gabriel Georges will be able to fill in right away for Desean Bishop, who's expected to be gone after this year. He would be able to start right away in Knoxville compared to at Ohio State where he'd be buried in the depth chart.
Now that the momentum has publicly shifted in Tennessee's favor, Heupel and the staff have to fend off one last Hail Mary from Ohio State. The Buckeyes are determined to include Gabriel Georges in their class, and now that Tennessee has gained all the momentum, Ryan Day will likely throw a haymaker back at the Vols.
While Tennessee hasn't won the race yet, everything is starting to fall into place for the Vols to have a massive finish to the summer, just ahead of fall camp. If the Vols can get things done, they will have a much more complete class, too. With Gabriel George, the Vols' ceiling immediately rises to potential national title level.
