Already this week, a total of four Tennessee football wide receivers announced they're entering the transfer portal and that they won't be suiting up for Josh Heupel and his staff in 2025. That number is concerning, especially for depth purposes.
Well, one player in particular has already found a new home. That'd be speedster Kaleb Webb, who originally signed with the Vols as a 4-star prospect as a member of the 2022 class. This week, Webb took an official visit to Wake Forest and he has already decided he'll be suiting up in Winston-Salem next campaign:
Former Tennessee wide receiver Kaleb Webb has committed to Wake Forest
A Georgia native, Webb was a touted prospect coming out of high school in '22, picking up more than 20 offers. In the end, he signed with Tennessee over tenders from Michigan, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina and others.
Webb was the No. 35 WR in the country too. His time with the Vols didn't go according to plan, however, as he ended up getting buried on the depth chart. During the regular season this fall, the 6-3, 205-pounder finished with only six receptions for 48 yards.
He's not the only wideout on his way out of town, though, as he was joined by Nathan Leacock, Nate Spillman and Chas Nimrod as the WRs who entered the portal. Leacock, Spillman and Nimrod are yet to commit to new schools yet, but they'll have until Dec. 28 to make their decisions.
Heupel and his coaches are going to be busy this weekend hosting transfers for official visits, but a wideout is yet to be confirmed as of this writing. People are excited about linemen TJ Shanahan and Wendell Moe Jr. checking out UT, but sooner rather than later, some receivers will need to be looked at to help out for '25 and beyond.
