We are starting to see former Tennessee players announce their commitments to new schools, but the latest news sure isn't sitting well with people. That's because cornerback Jordan Matthews has found his new home and he's going to be closer than fans imagined.

On Wednesday, Matthews announced that he's going to be leaving Knoxville to sign with Vanderbilt. Yup, Matthews is going to be staying in-state, not traveling far to Nashville to continue his college playing days. This appears to be the first time a Tennessee player in the portal has decided to sign with Vandy football:

Former Tennessee CB Jordan Matthews has committed to Vanderbilt

It wasn't a surprise at all when Matthews decided to enter the portal in the first place, but his next stop has plenty of UT supporters talking. Matthews appeared in 12 games for the Vols this past campaign, but mostly on special teams.

He posted only three tackles and two pass deflections on defense for Tim Banks and Josh Heupel. Coming out of high school, Matthews was a stud prospect. According to the 247Sports Composite, he was ranked four stars and the No. 28 CB in the country for the 2023 class.

Matthews picked up more than 30 offers throughout his recruitment, signing with Tennessee over Stanford, Michigan, Alabama and many others. Things didn't go to plan for him with the Vols and now he'll be hoping to make an impact with Vandy moving forward.

Tennessee transfer Kaleb Webb flipped his commitment from Wake Forest to Marlyand

In other transfer portal news, former UT wideout Kaleb Webb has found another home via the portal for the second time in a week. Originally, Webb committed to play for Wake Forest, but due to coaching changes, he opened things up.

On Wednesday, Webb announced that he'll be playing for Maryland in 2025. Wake Forest ended up hiring Washington State's Jake Dickert to take over as head coach, but Webb decided his future will be with the Terrapins and not the Demon Deacons.
