Did the Denver Broncos Try to Trade Former Tennessee Vol Peyton Manning to the Houston Texans?

Conflicting reports suggest that the Denver Broncos tried to trade former Tennessee Vol Peyton Manning to the Houston Texans, which the Broncos deny.

It’s been a hectic offseason for former Tennessee Vol great Peyton Manning.

More from Peyton Manning

The Denver Broncos quarterback had a terrible end to last season due to an injury, leading many people and analysts to suggest that he will retire or this will be his last year.

Then, Manning was asked to take a pay cut by Denver, which he accepted. After that, he made the comment that he does not see this as his last go-round, reminding us what he said last year that you should play until “you suck.”

But here comes more drama. Rumors are circulating that the Broncos tried to trade Manning to the Houston Texans earlier this year, according to reports that surfaced Tuesday night.

"SportsRadio 610 has learned that the Broncos and Texans, did in fact, have “very preliminary” talks about the Houston Texans acquiring the future Hall of Fame quarterback this offseason, according to a source.- From CBS Sports"

But since then, according to another report on Go Vols, the Broncos have denied that report.

We are not entirely sure who the sources are, so it is not smart to speculate here. However, I find it hard to believe that the Broncos would cut bait with Peyton Manning because of a bad half of a season after everything they invested in him and everything he did before that point.

Given the fact that guys like DeMarcus Ware are still on the team, John Elway and Co. are clearly building a team for a Super Bowl now. Why give up your elite quarterback while you are in that process?

What could be true is that the Broncos might have tried to use the trade as leverage in the contract negotiations as they were asking Manning to take a pay cut, but that is also nothing but speculation.

The truth is there is no way to no what truly happened right now until more reports surfaced. But if I had to bet on it, I would say they did not truly intend to trade him.
