After the shooting in Chattanooga, Tenn. that killed five people, former Tennessee Vol Peyton Manning went there to honor the military and police.

Peyton Manning was back in Tennessee this past week as he went to the Naval Marine Corps Reserve Center in Chattanooga, Tenn. where four people were shot dead and a fifth later died from injuries, according to WRCB-TV.

Manning visited with service members and police officers.

"The record-breaking quarterback for the Denver Broncos, who played football for the University of Tennessee, showed up at the reserve late Saturday night to visit with military personnel and police officers. After Manning’s visit, officers posted photos on social media."

As a member of the Denver Broncos, Manning is clearly no stranger to tragic shootings. His first summer with the Broncos was when the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo. happened.

Then, as now, he made a point to visit with people affected by what happened and did his best not to draw attention to himself. This time, it was only after photos were posted to social media that his visit was made public.

Obviously, nobody would be surprised by this. Manning has always shown sympathy and compassion, and his roots with the state of Tennessee never left him after his college years. The former Vol is a Tennesseean through and through, and this was a great gesture for him to make.
