Tennessee football is back. As the Vols get set for the 2015 season, here is how every game on the schedule ranks in terms of importance.

After a successful season last year and high expectations going into this year, there is a debate going on in Vol Nation right now about what will constitute a successful season. We documented what will be required for a successful season here.

But one of the big factors in determining what will be a successful season has to do with the schedule and determining which games are the most important.

Obviously, playing in the SEC, the Tennessee Volunteers are consistently going to have one of the toughest schedules in all of college football. Each year they have to deal with Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and a host of other good teams.

But depending on the expectations of the season, how good each team they are playing is, and other random factors, the importance of games could change on a year to year basis.

Rivalries are a consistent factor every year, but even those have to be adjusted for each season. For Tennessee, there is a clear list of games that are the most important for them to focus on if they want to have a successful season this year.

There are also some games they don’t need to worry about because they either should not expect to win them or should not require too much effort in winning. Matching the difficulty of the games with the best chance for the Vols to have the successful season we want them to have is how we have come up with which games are the most important.
