One of the Vols’ best players won’t be on the field for Tennessee’s game against Florida, but he will still make the trip.
Vols linebacker/defensive end Curt Maggitt won’t play on Saturday against Florida, but he will make the trip to Gainesville according to Butch Jones.
Maggitt is hoping to return at some point this season after cracking a bone in his hip during Tennessee’s loss to Oklahoma on September 12.

The redshirt senior is undoubtedly the leader of the Vols’ defense. He’s also one of the team’s best pass-rushers, which makes his absence even more detrimental to UT.
So while Tennessee would obviously love to have Maggitt on the field, they’ll have to settle for his leadership from the sidelines. Which is still big for the Vols.
Maggitt, a Florida native, will provide emotional leadership, something a young Vol team will need in a hostile environment like the Swamp.
There is still no official timetable for Maggitt’s return this season.
