Vols Football: Alvin Kamara And Cam Sutton Both To Continue Returning Punts
By Zach Ragan
If you thought the Vols would start exclusively using running back Alvin Kamara as their punt returner, you’d be wrong.
Butch Jones told 104.5 the Zone on Thursday that Tennessee would continue to mix it up on punt returns with Kamara and cornerback Cam Sutton.
Sutton has proven to be a sure-handed punt returner and his 17.2 yard per return average this season is quite good.
But Kamara, who has a small sample size (just two punt returns), showed how electric he can be with the ball in his hands last week against Western Carolina.

Kamara ran one punt back for a touchdown and nearly had another punt returned for a touchdown, but it was called back due to an illegal block in the back.
Jones is right that it’s a luxury to have both Kamara and Sutton available to return punts.
However, I don’t think there’s any question that Kamara provides the greatest spark — which is something the Vols will obviously need against Florida.
If it was me making the call on Saturday in the Swamp, I’m trotting Kamara out there any time the Gators line up to punt.
