Tennessee Football: Vols Linebacker Curt Maggitt Praises Big Orange Country in Letter
Tennessee Football linebacker wrote an open letter praising the Volunteer community and fans in dealing with his injury issues this year.
Showing his status as a true Vol for Life, Tennessee senior linebacker Curt Maggitt opened up to Vols fans about what his career has been like at Tennessee and how he has dealt with his injuries, including the chipped bone against the Oklahoma Sooners that has sidelined him this year.
Maggitt wrote a letter that is up on UTSports right now about the support from the fan base, the passion of Vol Nation, his love for the East Tennessee community, his faith, and how he has dealt with his injury.
Here is an excerpt from the letter.
"I came to Knoxville to play football and be the best football player I could be. But in the process, I fell in love with Tennessee and everything it had to offer, from the mountains to the great people to the apple butter and jelly. This is a place I will settle some day and still try to use my influence to help kids grow. Any way I can help, that’s my goal, to give back to the community.Every fall, it’s going to be football time and I want to be as close as possible. I could definitely see myself having a very stable life here. I have a lot of passion about where I’m from and where I was raised, so the first few years I was all about going back to Palm Beach. But over the last couple of years, I’d go back home and couldn’t wait to get back to Knoxville."
While he admitted that not everything about his time in Knoxville went as planned, he said he would not change it for anything.
Maggitt, as we have found out in other reports, has been a leader from the sidelines for the Vols as well, assisting with the players on the field and doing whatever possible to help his team. He is a true Vol.

Unfortunately, the one thing we did not get from Maggitt in that letter is whether or not he plans to return to Tennessee. The NFL Draft is still a very real possibility.
After recently getting off crutches, Maggitt did not say Tuesday whether or not he would appeal for a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA.
He said he had not made a decision yet to reporters after practice, according to 247Sports online.

Obviously, Maggitt coming back would be huge for the Vols if he were fully healthy. This guy is a deadly pass-rusher, and if Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Cameron Sutton also return, you are talking about an amazing defense next year with Derek Barnett also in the lineup.
All of those guys along with Derek Barnett make this unit just scary to think about.

But whatever decision Maggitt does make, he should always be beloved in Knoxville, as he has grown into a player who put the program before himself. He is a true Vol for life.
And everybody in Knoxville wishes him nothing but the best.
