Tennessee basketball scheduled another ACC home-and-home. The Volunteers will visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in 2017-2018 and host them the next year.

With the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on the slate for next season already to finish off a home-and-home, Rick Barnes has added another ACC foe for Tennessee basketball.

The Vols will visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as well next year in the first of a home-and-home series.

Also, the fact that they could play the N.C. State Wolfpack in the Battle 4 Atlantis, and Tennessee could be playing four ACC teams next year.

According to UTSports, Tennessee will play Wake Forest on the road next year on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017.

The following year, they will host the Demon Deacons on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018.

More from Vols Basketball

Like Tennessee Wake Forest should return a lot of talent next year and will have much bigger expectations.

At the same time, the Vols’ new athletic director, John Currie, got his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest, so the schools do have a connection now.

The last time they played was 2013 in the Battle 4 Atlantis, and Tennessee won the game 82-63.

Clearly, with three ACC schools already on the slate and potentially four, Tennessee basketball has a brutal schedule for next year, something that should help the Vols as they try to make a play for the NCAA Tournament.

As a result of the Battle 4 Atlantis and these opponents, the Vols could potentially play eight Power Five schools outside of their SEC schedule.

Schedule strength alone kept them in contention this year for the tournament. However, they obviously collapsed down the stretch.
