Former Tennessee basketball Volunteers Jordan Bone and Grant Williams had amazing reactions to news that they were taken in the NBA Draft Thursday.

The NBA Draft can bring a range of emotions. Even guys like Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett, who knew they’d be top 5 picks, couldn’t help but break down when the news broke. It gets even more emotional for guys down the line.

Such was the case for a couple of Tennessee basketball players on the night. Former Vols Grant Williams, Admiral Schofield and Jordan Bone all were selected. But Williams and Bone had reactions to remember.

Williams was taken in the first round by the Boston Celtics with the 22nd pick of the NBA Draft. His draft party was somewhat reserved, but Charlotte Observer reporter Langston Wertz Jr. was able to be there with the family. He captured the reaction to the news of Williams, who is from Charlotte, being drafted.

As you can see, it was typical excitement, but Williams had a range of emotions. He looked speechless and all too appreciative just to have the chance to play at that level. But everybody around him kept the energy up.

Jordan Bone, meanwhile, had an even crazier range of emotions. Bone’s NBA Draft party seemed to go a lot more somber. It was questionable if he’d go anyway, and with only four picks left, it appeared that he wouldn’t be taken.

While under the implication that he wouldn’t be taken, the shock occurred. A member of the audience pointed out that he had been drafted, and the crazy reaction started. Eric Pope II of In The Front Row captured it all on video.

You can’t have a wider range of emotions. The exciting reaction alone, with a guy jumping on stage to tackle Bone in celebration, would have made this an epic reaction. Having it come on the heels of such somber news made it only better.

Bone was taken with the 57th pick. A series of trades meant the New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets all had their hands on that pick. But when it was all over, Bone would end up with the Detroit Pistons. A Nashville product, that meant he went from Music City to the Motor City.

Overall, this was a historic NBA Draft for the Vols. Williams, Schofield and Bone all should be proud of what happened. But Williams and Bone showed what the emotions on draft night is all about. And it’s something everybody loves to see.
