2. John Fulkerson announces return

Jonas Aidoo committed on a Wednesday to beef up Tennessee basketball in the post. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield committed on a Thursday to give them some real talent and advantages in the post. The biggest news down there, though, happened on a Friday.

More from Vols Basketball

John Fulkerson, who has already been with the Vols for five years, announced he would take advantage of the COVID eligibility ruling and return for a sixth season on Rocky Top. At 6’9″ 215 pounds, Fulkerson has been one of those great development stories under Rick Barnes, but he missed the NCAA Tournament last year due to injury, and the Vols missed him.

After averaging nine and a half points and five and a half rebounds last year, he is back, and he is a proven commodity in the post. That’s enough for us to say his return is the biggest thing to happen to the Vols down low. They now have a sixth-year senior, a returning five-star, a seven-footer, a 6’8″ developing wing and a four-star center.

Simply put, the Vols went from being thin in the post to being extremely loaded in the post in a matter of three days. Fulkerson, though, was the standout return among all of them, as he is the guy who has proven what he can do.
